Even tho she was a dork, and really didn't have any singing talent, she did have a point. My feeling is that American Idol is looking for a specific type of person to fit into their pop mold. Seems like if a pretty girl could sing even marginally they'd put her thru. But get a dorky, overweight person with a great voice...nope sorry, not what we're looking for.
Whatever happened to it being a singing competition? I know they're looking for someone to sell records, etc. But look at Aerosmith, ugliest band in the world, sold tons of records and everyone loves them. Why do pop stars have to fit into this beauty mold? If I buy a record, it's because I love the music, not because I like someone's image. It's getting a bit carried away if you ask me, just like with models, only the skinny ones survive. TV stars, yeah, they should be easy on the eyes. But come on American Idol, be fair about who you select for your "Singing Competition."
