Last night was the first part of the two part American Idol finale, and I thought it was one of the best finales yet. I'm gonna have to agree with the the judges by saying that Jordin really did mop the floor with Blake, at least at the end. Blake is a great performer, but he really isn't that great of a singer, so when he wasn't allowed to beatbox or perform, it was kind of like....uhhh, why is he here? Blake's first song was great, and after I thought maybe it will be a closer race than I thought. Jordin did a great job with Fighter, and although it obviously her strong point, I really enjoyed it. Blake really surprised me with She Will Be Loved. It was a horrible song choice...it didn't play up his strengths and he just sang Maroon 5 last week. That being said, I thought he did an amazing job. His voice sounded a lot better than it usually does, and I can see why he picked it, but I think the coronation song was so weak, that he needed another WOW performance, and She Will Be Loved was not that. Jordin on the other had, did AMAZING, with A Broken Wing. I think I loved it even more than the first time she sang it. The note at the end gave me chills, and round two obviously went to Jordin. At this point, I was thinking it still might be a pretty close race, but then Blake totally bombed the coronation song, through no fault of his own. They couldn't have picked a song that was less "Blake" and you could feel him losing himself as he sang it. He obviously didn't enjoy singing the song, and it makes me glad that he isn't going to win. This type of song was written for Jordin, and she did a great job with it. I could have done without the crying, but hey, if it I was the one singing, I know I would be crying so hard I couldn't breathe. I can not see Jordin not winning this tonight. The thing is, Jordin will become a better performer with practice, and I don't think Blake's voice is going to get any better. Plus, if Blake won, it would be the most boring finale ever....I don't think there would be any emotion when he was singing the final song. Be sure to watch American Idol tonight, as Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks and many others will be performing, and the longest season of Idol ever, comes to an end.
