Last night on American Idol, there were some great performances, and some not so much, but the big news was the announcement that Kelly Clarkson will be performing on the Idol Gives backs special on April 25th.

To be honest with you, I was so excited about that, that I didn't really watch the show as deeply as I usually do, so this will be pretty brief!

Blake Lewis- I thought he did a pretty good job. Like always, it was a great performance and although the vocals could have been better, it was a great start to the night.

Phil Stacey- Phil performed right after the Kelly announcement, and so I didn't pay much attention to him...I probably wouldn't have liked it though...it sounded very boring.

Melinda Doolittle- I really liked her hair tonight! It was also a great performance. Very fun and she got to show off her personality a lot more than she usually does. She really does do a great job at owning the song and interpreting the lyrics! I wasn't really a big fan of here performance last week but she sure made up for it last night!

Chris Richardson- I really liked his intro! He chose a great song and sang it well. I don't really like the tone of his voice though- it's very nasally. It was a fun song and he did a great job though!

Jordin Sparks- I love Jordin. She is my favorite contestant now and is just so amazing every week. She didn't necessarily make the song modern- but she sounded great and had fun with it! She really does amaze me every week, and is probably one of my favorite contestants from these past few seasons.

Gina Glocksen- It just seemed so out of character for her to be singing these songs, and I really don't think that a contestant on Idol should ever look so uncomfortable or weird singing a certain genre of music...The vocals were good though...she really has gotten a lot better at controlling her voice. The thing about Gina that bugs me though, is that she is so cocky. She never lets Simon finish talking and it is starting to make me really mad.

Sanjaya Malakar- Um, so I decided that I really just dont know what to say about Sanjaya anymore so I am just going to say he is way out of his league and leave it there. Also, I think that people are way over reacting to him being in the competition. This isn't the first year where someone who really does not deserve to be in the competition is...he won't win and talking about him all the time is just stirring up publicity and making people want to vote for him. If everybody would just let it go and let the hype die down a little bit- he would be gone.

Haley Scarnato- I see she is bringing back the sex appeal...she must realize that she can't rely on her voice to get her through the compteition and has to use something else to appeal to the audience- whatever floats her boat I guess. I'm sure she is a really nice girl, but she just really isn't right for this competition. Haley's performance last night was once again boring and forgettable, just like it has been every week so far...I guess I just don't get why she is still here. I really didn't think she would last past the top 10...

LaKisha Jones- So yeah...I am so over LaKisha. Seriously, sure she can sing but she is so boring...it was another big power ballad amazing vocal performance from LaKisha and I am really wish she could do something else.

Overall, last night left a lot to be desired...the front runners are still front runners and the not so great contestants are still not so great...whatever...this is probably the most boring season yet. I am however, very glad that Kelly Clarkson will be returning to the Idol stage...show them all what they have to live up to!

Make sure to watch American Idol tonight to see who goes home and who survives another week!
