Last night on American Idol, Melinda Doolittle was eliminated, leaving Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis as the final two. I was upset to see Melinda leave, but not at all shocked. I could not picture her winning or even making the final two. She was one of the most talented people we have ever seen on American Idol, and could sing anything well, but America doesn't seem to like perfection....it's always the people who are a little unique or different that make it to the finale. That is why people like LaToya London, Jennifer Hudson, Tamyra Gray, Chris Daughtry, etc. get eliminated. They always do a great job, and it gets a little boring after a while. I have no doubt that Melinda will get signed and have a good career after Idol, she just couldn't win. That being said, I love the final two. This has been my ideal finale since Jordin sang I Who Have Nothing (the first time). I think this is a far more interesting matchup. Blake is the most unique contestant ever one this show, and is extraordinarily modern, which really works to his advantage. In the end though, I think Jordin's voice and personality will win it for her. It's crazy to me that Jordin made the final two, because I really liked her from the beginning, but based on her top 24-16 performances, I really didn't think she would make it past the top 10....but she was the only one who stepped up her game in the Top 12 and really proved she deserved to be there. I really hope Jordin wins, and I really don't see it going any other way at this point. Some interesting Idol statistics though: Jordin is the first contestant to go first for the Top 3 performances and make it into the finale, and Melinda is only the second (or third if you count the finale) person ever to go home after performing last (the other two being Anthony Fedorov and Clay Aiken...) Make sure to watch the finale of American Idol next week to see if Jordin Sparks or Blake Lewis will be the American Idol 2007!
